Barsaet Temple is located in Barsaet Villlage, Sangke District, Battambang. It is 15 kilometers from Battambang city to temple.
The temple was built in the 11th century (AD 1036 and 1042) during the reign of King Suryavarman I (AD 1002-1050). This temple was seriously damaged by war, there is only the door frame remains. There is an ancient pond that is 20 meters long, 12 meters wide and 10 meters deep in the temple.
Prek Toal Bird Sanctury
Prek Toal Bird sanctuary (Tonle Sap Lake) is home to 120 bird species which are endangered list. The Sanctuary is a breeding ground for dozens of birds like storks, ibises, cormrants, pelicans and adjuncts from January to June. During the rainy season, you can visit the flooded forest and observe daily life of local who are living on the lake.
Prek Toal is a floating village which is a sophisticated and bustling township of fisher-folk, boat builder and businessmen, providing everything which a town on dry land can provide it population. You can reach Prek Toal by boat from Battambang or Siem Reapp. It is better to go in large group to share the boat cost ($70-80 for 01 boat)
Wat Ek Phnom
The pagoda is about 10 km north of Battambang city center. It is Hindu which was built during the Bayon – 11th century under the rule of king Suryavarman I.
Although, some parts was collapsed and looted it is famous for its well-carved lintels and pediments, it is an interesting place to visit in Battambang. In front of the ruins, there is a freshly constructed working temple. This temple, along with the temple ruins, is the center of holiday festivities for locals of nearby villages. They dress up the best dress and have a celebration between the old and the new temples and climb all around the ruins with their families.
Bamboo train is located in the outskirts of town (nori). It is a bamboo flatbed on wheels, which is powered by a small motorcycle or tractor engine.
The rail line stretches all the way down to the capital of Phnom Penh. The bamboo train ride only runs 7 kilometers in length to a nearby villages and back. Watching the beautiful countryside view like fields, across rickety bridges, and through stretches of bush.
Kamping Puoy Bassin Reservoir
Kamping Puoy is a reservoir which is around 30km from Battambang city. The trip out here is part of the attraction as it passes through some stunning countryside. On the bank of lake, there are a number of food and drink stalls which is provided everything for your trip. It is possible to charter a boat to take you out on the lake and maybe visit some of the people who live in stilt houses. This reservoir is popular with locals who come out here with picnics.
