if you are looking for a remote and unique place to spend some quiet days right next to the Mekong, this is the place to go! 10 km from Stung Treng, you'll get a nicely furnished and well equipped wooden bungalow with terrace looking over the river. the restaurant serves nice khmer dishes for reasonable prices. we did the kayaking tour with a guide and had a great time passing through the jungly mace of mekong islands where noone else is, so peaceful!
if you found this place on travel fish, the owner changed and so did the prices!

    “peaceful place at the Mekong”

It's a 15 minute tuktuk drive from Stung Treng to the resort. If you call them they will pick you up from town. The resort is located on a high bank of the Mekong river. All the bungalows have a balcony facing the river. It's a relaxing place with 2 restaurants overlooking the Mekong River. The food (especially the breakfast) is very good and reasonably priced. We went on a boat tour (6 hours) with a guide from the lodge. The cost was about 10 of 12 USD pp (inc. lunch) which was very good value for money.

    “Hidden Gem!”

I loved every moment of my stay at Mekong Bird: the food, the bungalow, the atmosphere, the kindness of the staff and of the owner. The kayak on the river and the view from the restaurant were really unforgettable. I would have loved to stay longer.

A wonderful rustic charming place to stay right on the river. It's a few kms out of town, so is good if you gave your own transport (but assume the resort would help you with this if needed).

All bungalows are wooden and basic so don't waste your money on the air con. Fans are perfectly fine. They come with mozzie nets. Sunsets are amazing!

It's quite a well known restaurant for locals, especially on weekends, so perhaps best to choose a bungalow away from the main restaurant. Food is good - but vegetarian options limited. They will cook off the menu if asked though.

They arrange kayak and boat tours. We did a half day floating forest kayak tour. The river was high though so we got pushed through the forest by the strong current which made bird watching a bit hard. Supposedly better in dry season or when the river is low.

Nice place to spend a few restful days.
